Edwin Shoffner is an experienced professional with over 30 years of experience in mattress retailing. As president of Mattress By Appointment, a licensor with over 450 licensees, he has helped numerous entrepreneurs create successful mattress businesses across all states. In addition to his vast experience in mattress retailing, Edwin Shoffner is also a certified scuba diver with an Advanced Open Water certification.
A level of scuba diving that is beyond the basic Open Water Diver Certification in terms of difficulty and skills, the Advanced Open Water Diver Certification helps gain confidence to dive in diverse water environments through advanced buoyancy and navigation skills plus a combination of specialty training such as night performance buoyancy, wreck diving, deep diving, and digital underwater navigation.
Student divers must pass a medical evaluation process by filling out a medical questionnaire to be eligible for the program. The core purpose of the medical questionnaire is to help determine whether a doctor’s fitness evaluation before training is necessary.
For safety, a student diver must not be extremely overweight. It’s also crucial that their respiratory and circulatory systems are fit to withstand the high pressure and other conditions of some underwater environments. People who are battling epilepsy and other serious medical conditions should not dive. Before joining this program, a person whose health is compromised by heart disease, asthma, or other chronic health issues should consult their doctor and a diving instructor.
