PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification Process

Edwin Shoffner holds both scuba diving and Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

The Advanced Open Water Diver program helps to expand and develop skills in those who have already earned the basic Open Water Diver certification, offering Adventure Dives which provide a new challenge. These dives also count toward PADI Specialty Diver status

Many Adventure Dives are available, with prospective certification recipients completing five in total. Two dives must be completed by all divers: the Deep Adventure Dive that deals with the unique challenges of deeper dives, and the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive, which presents both compass-based and visual navigation challenges. The remaining three can be any other PADI Adventure Dive, enabling those with specific interests, such as wreck exploration or photography, to get the most out of the program.
