Scuba diving has seen a higher frequency of participation among people with physical disabilities. This is because special adaptive gear has been invented to assist individuals who can not use standard scuba diving gear.

Adaptive scuba diving is the method of teaching individuals with physical disabilities to scuba dive in an independent manner. Although specialized gear is not compulsory in all cases, equipment like webbed gloves is now available for divers who can not utilize fins underwater. The diver’s weight is not a factor underwater, and movement is free. As a result, the scuba gear does not pose any obstruction.
